Red Wattle Pork – Fill Your Freezer the Right Way
This is what you’ve all been waiting for!
There’s a big difference between pork you grab at the store and pork you actually look forward to eating... this is the kind you look forward to!
Backroad Barnyard has 10 Red Wattle hogs heading to the butcher the first week of April, and they are now available by reservation.
Why Red Wattle Pork?
If you’ve never had Red Wattle pork, just know it’s hard to go back to anything else.
This heritage breed is known for:
✔ Rich, deep flavor - not bland or watery
✔ Beautiful marbling that keeps meat tender and juicy
✔ A slightly sweet, almost beef-like taste
✔ Incredible bacon, chops, and roasts
It’s the kind of pork that reminds you what pork is supposed to taste like.
Raised the Right Way
These hogs are raised with care from start to finish:
🌱 Born and raised on our farm
🌾 Raised in wooded pastures
🌱 Fed certified organic feed and alfalfa
🚫 No hormones
🚫 No antibiotics
🚫 No steroids
🚫 No vaccines
No shortcuts. No fillers. Just honest food raised the way it should be.
Customize Your Pork
You’re not just buying meat. You’re choosing exactly what goes in your freezer.
You can purchase:
• Whole hog
• Half hog
Processing is done at Conger Meat Market or Steve’s Meat Market (your choice), and you’ll work directly with the butcher to decide how you want everything cut - from bacon thickness to sausage options to roast sizes.
From Our Farm to Your Freezer
This is about more than just buying pork. It’s about knowing where your food came from...feeding your family something real...and opening your freezer to meals you’re actually excited about.
At Backroad Barnyard, we believe good pork starts with good practices and you can taste the difference.
Limited Availability
There are only 10 hogs available and reservations are first come, first served. Once these are spoken for, there likely won’t be more available until this time next year.
If you’ve been thinking about buying in bulk or making the switch to better pork, now’s the time.
You can reserve your hog in our Store here. If you'd like to learn more about the ordering process, please visit our Ordering Info page.
